Film - Shelia's Garden

If there’s one golden thread throughout my projects, it’s a curiosity and love of people.

The thing I was most moved to discover is how all people need is the right platform, the right set of conditions, and a human connection, and then you can step back and watch them flourish and tell their own stories.

I was commissioned to film 5 winners from South Yorkshire Housing’s tenant gardening competition.

I filmed them all in a day in five different locations, (sadly without a tripod!) and edited them in two days.

What they lack in production quality, they make up for as a snapshot in social history.

This is Sheila, a life-long Wednesday fan who lives in Darnall, Sheffield.

How great is this woman. She sums up the beauty of Sheffield for me.
